Movin on Up
The day that is, movin on up! At least I am smiling and laughing now. It is still windy and chilly outside making the day a little less fun, but still improvements are an improvement.
from the list of things earlier that i needed to get done I got most done.
The visit to the Social Security office was HILARIOUS! We walked into a silent waiting room with dozens of people. We get our little number and are herded into chairs. the security officer comes over oh so shyly and informs us that the wait is 2-2.5 hours and we should come back in a couple hours...We leave, run some errands and return....Greeted by the same silent and cold waiting room we sit down and just wait. and wait. and wait. There is no music, no sound, nothing to really look at...well unless you read an advertisement in Spanish that says "follow us on twitter." Who is really following the social security offices??
Such a strange experience. People come in, get a number, sit down. Some get called promptly and others just wait. After about an hour of sitting my magical number was called and 5 minutes later we were walking out the door. CRAZY!!!
Such a mind blowing place. Anyone who needs to change their name must experience the same thing.
On another note, I now have a new license, social security and insurance card with my name! Wahoo for me...many more things to change though.
