Just us
My husband and I are really really great friends. Started that way and seems to be the way we roll. He is my partner in everything. At the risk of sounding like a 6th grader he is my BFF. 😃
With our traveling lifestyle we don't get a huge amount of one on one time. We do though, get a lot of time together. Andy will sometimes joke that we see each other 20 hours a day 5 days a week. This is kind of true and is something easily taken for granted. When we do get the occasional date night or no kid time it is magical.
This past weekend my mom took the boys for a quick 36 hours. Like normal we "worked" while we didn't have our babies but it was still amazing. We packed those 36 hours full of some serious fun. We got to enjoy dinners alone, brunch with friends, random coffees, a funny movie, walking our dogs, house hunting, and being just the two of us.
One thing that Andy and I focus on is us. I hope most others do this as well. It seems to easy to just get pulled into the same old same old and start forgetting the little things. One day our kiddos are going to be grown and not part of our everyday. Sad to think about this but it is true. When that day arrives Andy and I want to make sure that we are still a solid and happy couple, just us.
We aren't perfect. No one is. Our kids are awesome little people that are super fun to be around but without the two of us, they wouldn't be here.
Cheers to date nights, random time off and being "just us."
