Working...That's what YOU call it.
Work is such a bad word....WORK.
As a nurse we measure so many things by that word. Your "work of breathing," how "hard your heart works," lets "let the medication work," and so on.
At home we use the word to list all the things that we need to get done. I need to work-out, I need to get some house work done, I need to work on my to-do list etc.
The truth is when it comes to work....as in a job; I feel like i have the best job ever. No, I am not talking about being a mom or a nurse. I do love it so much, but that sometimes is the "bad" form of the word work. I am talking about my little (well, not so little) side gig with Jamberry. I have been doing this little nail thing for over three years now. Every single day I get to have fun that all starts with my fingernails. It is such a huge part of my day that the conversation comes naturally and the actual "sales" portion doesn't worry me.
Anyway. This past weekend I had a "mom's weekend" off....Sort of. I used the weekend to book as many little Jam get togethers as I could up in the Chicago-land area. In just 3 short days I was able to re-connect with some amazing customers, hostesses and friends from the past. In those three short days I was able to share this amazing product and company with dozens of new women and faces that had never heard of the product.
The thing is I don't think this is work, although in truth it is. My hustle this past weekend will go towards my family and our lifestyle BUT I don't think of it as work. I get to have fun doing something I feel passionately about. Providing people (not just women) with a safe, non toxic, more affordable, AND way more fun way to have pretty nails is what I get to do. Sounds silly to some but think about how many women and men you know that get their nails done. Actually here is a challenge...next time you are out and about take a glance at people and their hands. You will be so surprised to see how many people have their nails done, nails chipped or nails in need of a mani. THIS is what I get to do.
In addition to the above mentioned fun I get to have I have been able to build some of the most real and wonderful relationships. Friends from the past and I have reconnected. Hostesses and Customers have become friends that I turn to when life throws me a curve-ball. My team-mates have truly become another family to me and it has been this incredible, LIFE-CHANGING experience.
My "work" with Jamberry is one of the best choices I have ever made. I love being a nurse, wife and mom...but this "job" brings me something totally different!
(and I get paid to have pretty nails too)
-Cheers
