Home again Home again
Where is your home?
Is your home where you grew up or is it where you live now?
For me home is wherever my family is and truly wherever we go we make it home. It is the simplest of things to make a hotel our home while we are away. A couple creature comforts and we are set to go for the length of our stay there. When my family is not around it doesn't feel right. It feels like part of me is missing so I long to be home with them.
This summer we have been able to really enjoy some serious downtime in our actual house. It has been incredible and amazing. As a family we have enjoyed some concerts in our local park, fireworks with friends, and plenty of play-dates. Not to mention to feel a little more "normal" not balancing which clothes I need to pack, rotate in the drawers and what the weather is going to be where we are going.
This past weekend I took a little side trip alone and had some time to think about many things. My home is where my family is. When I arrived home last night I walked through our house's front door and still didn't feel home. I truthfully didn't feel home until I was being hugged and loved on my my husband and my kiddos. We played, laughed and had some fun last night. The boys helped me make dinner and I got to put them to bed on my own last night. (normally this is a family deal). Then, the best part of the coming home feeling happened....Andy and I curled up on the couch and I fell asleep with his arms around me. I felt so at home and so comfortable.
If you are rolling your eyes at this I have a secret to tell you! It has been ten years (almost) of the two of us. It hasn't changed. He is my home. He is my partner in everything that we do. My biggest wish for my children is that they find someone who is their partner, who is their home.
So I am home. Hanging out and getting ready for a play-date!
Cheers
The weekend was great fun
