A day in Saint Louis- W's style

I thought about doing the "day-in-the-life" thing but it wouldn't make sense. We are on the go the majority of the time so our days often look a little different. Home really is wherever my family is so we make the schedule travel with us. On the rarity that we are "home" our days are a little more laid back and casual. With summer in full swing we do try to get outside before the sun gets to hot and the mosquitoes get too thick though.

6am comes early for anyone, no matter what. Andy and I aim to be out of bed by six. He does his morning thing and I get straight to what is important...My workout. Over the past 15 years I have learned a few things. One of the biggest is that if I don't make my workout happen right when I wake up the likelihood of it being done later is very small. So I workout and get it done bright and early (six days a week.) Once the workout is done I hop in the shower, make the bed and clean up our room.

7am- Boys are up right around seven or a bit past seven. The best part is opening their bedroom door and hearing Gus say "good morning Mama, I love you." He does this little thing without fail everyday. We then will have some quality family time in their room; snuggling, reading "good-morning" books and getting ready for the day.

730am- As a family we head downstairs and I get straight to my morning routine. Dishes and breakfast. Andy takes both our pups for a cheerful morning walk, often times stopping outside the windows to wave to the boys. Usually one or both of the boys asks for a quick snack  and then they play at my feet while I make our breakfast. Since breakfast is Andy and my favorite meal it is a BIG deal in our home.Come on over and join us sometime (all are welcome.) We eat at the table and as a family; sharing coffee and our meal. The boys finish and go play while Andy and I usually take 10 minutes or so to go over the day.

I clean up and the rest of our morning is pretty boring. If we need to run errands we do so. If we have a play-date we go. When Andy has a break in business he will spend it with us and it is GLORIOUS!

1200pm-  Lunch gets started. Being able to be at home is such a treat to us that I take every opportunity to cook. So similar to breakfast...lunch is a big deal (all are welcome BTW.)

1300pm (yup the nurse in me will always use military time)- One of my favorite times of the day...Nap time. Now this isn't my favorite because Oliver is asleep. It is one of my favorites because I get to spend some serious one on one time with Gus. He loves to watch "one of his shows" and this is the time that we do that. He likes to curl up next to me while i work on my Jam-business and we watch a show.

1500 ish- Oliver wakes up and the boys have a snack. Some sort of snuggling then happens because who doesn't love to snuggle up after they have had a nap?

We play and then my second favorite time of hte day happens

1730- FAMILY WALK! Yup. Every night our brood leashes up our pups. Andy wears Oli. I wear Gus and we walk...Sometimes the weather is incredible and others not so much but we do it. We take different routes. Sometimes we bring toys, sometimes coffee that is still left from the morning...Sometimes we stop at the park and play...The reality is that our family is very connected. We really need these times together so this becomes the focus of our day. The dogs get a great walk and we get time with our kids.

1800- Dinner- I usually start and prep dinner during nap time, that way we can get home from our family walk and get to it. Again, I love to cook so dinner is also a big deal...again all are welcome.  During dinner there is usually some sort of discussion with Gus to eat his meal, Oli usually throws something and there is often times tears. I wouldn't change it though. Even writing this it makes my heart smile to know these little things that will happen during the meal.

1845- bath and BED. We aim to have the kids in bed no later than 1915. They share a room so much like our morning routine the evening routine is the same. We put our pj's on, snuggle up and read a "bedtime story." Andy and I tuck the kids in together and wish them sweet dreams as their day comes to a close.

From 1900-2000 Andy and I agree that we can work. We can both catch up on the things we didn't finish throughout the day. Once the clock his 2000 we are done (mostly) and we spend our time together. Sometimes we will wait to have dinner so we can sit and talk while eating. Sometimes we will watch a movie (although I fall asleep.) The most important part is that we are both present and aware of the other one.

2230- We aim to be in bed. Like I said at the start. 6am is early.

you might be thinking that this is crazy to write all this out, maybe it is....Maybe not. Our life is very scheduled and routine. Even though we travel all the time most of these things continue to happen on the day-to-day of the W family.
