So in between travel jobs I have scored an awesome and interesting little "other" nursing job. Completely different from any kind of nursing I have ever done and something that seems interesting to most outside people. Well, interesting and confusing at the same time. It is telephonic nursing, but not a triage system (a way to order the sickest people) and not an answering service for Docs....See, I am confusing you. To be honest, until I got into the swing of things, I didn't really understand what I was doing. I am getting it now and I am just starting to understand the gravity of what this job entails...Yay me??? Maybe....
ANYWAY
My new job like many has ups and downs. The ups are CRAZY busy and make me do things on the phone and computer that I didn't think I would ever have to do...More skills for the resume I guess. The down times though are what are the biggest change for me. In the ER when it is not busy there is still things to do, stock, break people for lunch, round on patients...Whatever. At this job it is time to just be...Kind of nice. In this new found type of down time I have been able to get some reading done. Something I like to do but usually don't have the time. Now this brings up the Kindle vs. books debate. I love reading the books, seeing my progress as the pages turn and to be honest I love the smell of a book. At the same time I really dislike that I have finished reading books and have nothing else to read... What to do?
If you remember I made the goal of reading 5 books in "26 before 30" well...
I have read in the past week the following 4 books. Yes, in one week....That is crazy for me.
(sad to admit) "Fifty Shades of Grey"- good book, will prob read the others but I have to admit I wasn't as shocked as so many people are.
"Don't Dump the Dog"- AWESOME, a quick and funny read about a man who founded a shelter in St. Louis and the crazy things he has encountered.
"Fargo Rock City"- interesting read on a subject I know little about, Hair metal and glam rock of the 80's
"Such a Pretty Fat."- Hilarious. Mostly because she mentions Wheaton, Naperville and the "western suburbs of Chicago" a dozen times on her journey to be healthy. As well as many little sayings that made me laugh out loud.
In addition I have read the following in the last year.
"Room"- a Fabulously messed up story that is from the point of view of a 5 year old.
"The Help"- wonderful book. Movie, EH not so much.
So now I am in need of a couple more books to read...Any suggestions???
Celebrating: I am excited to announce that I have been hitched for 6 months!!! Andy constantly says that "every day is our anniversary" but there is something that brings a special smile to my face about the very antique idea of celebrating anniversaries. I think it is cute for lack of a better phrase. Six months is such a short time, but it feels like we have already had lifetimes together. Amazing what this man has done for me. I can't wait to see what the future brings for us. So far our adventures surpass the ones before it, I can't imagine my life being more wonderful. Somehow he shows me constantly how it can be more amazing each and every day.
Drinking: A new obsession with Tazo "passion" tea...Only it must be iced. Drinking it warm or even room temp is gross to me and upsets my stomach. Iced is amazing. Did you know that the whole box at target is 2.69 and if you go to SBUX the Iced Passion tea is 2.09 for one???? NUTSO. That made my decision to purchase the box so much easier. Economics 101.

I have been obsessed with Tazo passion tea since forever!! Do you ever get a passion tea lemonade from Starbucks? I always get mine unsweetened though!! Soooo good!! I am drinking one right now :-)
ReplyDeleteI love books by Jodi Picoult! She is an excellent author! --My sister's keeper, Salem Falls, Plain Truth, Keeping Faith some of my favorites by her! I also highly recommend the rest of the 50 Shades Trilogy. I really enjoyed them! Someone recommended the Gabriel's Inferno Series if you like 50 Shades so I just started that one now. It is pretty good so far. Very fast read!
When you get a second send me a message about this job you are doing now. The docs have all told me I would never go back to floor nursing becasue of my injuries so this might sound promising! Do you work from home? How many hours? Ton of typing??
Tony is also bugging me to ask you if you guys will be selling any Hawks tickets this year?? He is keeping his fingers crossed :-)
I love reading all of your life updates! Well that is enough babbling from me for now! ((HUGS))
