New Morning and a Fresh Perspective
This month, January of 2018 has been a little rougher than most months for the W's. My partner has been so incredibly successful in the last year that we new this month was coming. We knew that he was going to have a HUGE start to 2018. With that comes a LOT of traveling. In years past our whole little family unit went with him. We all would pile into the car, a plane or whatever and travel for 6-8 weeks. This year with G in school that has changed a bit.
So Andy is on his very first "marathon business trip," only this time he is on his own. The boys and I are doing our thing at home . (missing him mucho)
Yesterday was a really strange day. Emotionally there were some highs and some really big lows....If you know me and my distaste for Thursday...Well it was fitting that yesterday was a Thursday.
I went to sleep hoping I would wake up and it will all have worked itself and get better. The truth of the matter is that when I woke up this morning I had two choices.
1. Wallow in the events of yesterday
2. Acknowledge them and find the positive
Making the choice is something I get to do...Being negative is like a leech. For me it sucks me down a rabbit hole and I could live there forever. Being positive is uplifting, contagious and something that I wish to share with everyone. Everyday is not rainbows and lolly-pops but I choose to start each day like it will be.
Here are some positives that helped me make my choice this morning.
- My oldest son is one of the sweetest people I know...He "fills my heart with love" on the daily.
- My youngest son is a little brute with a soft spot for cuddling his mama.
- Last time some of my good Mama friends came over and made me laugh. Then one of my oldest and bestest friends (aka my "twin") came over and hung out with me. Sitting in my living room and chatting with them is something that I cherish. Laughing, crying, and talking about ALL THE THINGS are moments that are precious.
Here is some food for thought...We GET to make the decisions about our life. We get to decide what we want to do each day and how we are going to react to experiences.
I GET to wake up to my kiddos bright and early in the morning
I GET to snuggle with them in my bed EVERY morning
I GET to make them breakfast and sit down with them everyday
I get to work out
I get to nourish myself and my body
I get to do all these little mundane tasks that keep our day-to-day life up and running.
It is all a choice...It is all if you see the glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty....Me....My cup is full, overflowing and hopefully spilling into yours!
-Cheers
