Four Months...Currently
Well we were a little late in taking Mr Gus's four month photo but I like to think that it was worth the wait.
I know it has only been four months, but it has been FOUR MONTHS!!! Andy and I were just looking at his photos from when he was born and it is so strange to see him get so big and to see his little personality shine through each and every day.
I have to admit that I have been struggling with a high amount of anxiety and nerves in regards to taking Gus out in public by myself. I get so nervous that I will interrupt his routine or schedule....that people will get upset when he cries...all the stuff that happens is a baby. It has been getting better, but I still have my moments.
A couple of weeks ago Andy and I decided that we needed to make a decision in regards to Gus's sleep schedule. For the people that dis-agree with our decision, please keep that to yourself. Gus has never been the baby that slept super easy. He wasn't terrible either though. For awhile it was ok to get up all the time to give him his pacifier or to re-swaddle him but it was getting to the point when Andy and I were getting up every twenty to thirty minutes to fix or change something for him. After a lot...I mean ALOT of reading we decided to use a form of the "cry it out" method. (A special thanks to Michelle for giving me so much encouragement and support through that week.) The first night we did it I cried right along with Gus but like usual Andy was the rock and got all three of us through it.
It didn't work perfect but what does? Overall though we are happy! Gus is sleeping much better, with no swaddle and is waking up a much happier baby!!!
In not baby news....CURRENTLY
Work: we are busy busy like normal but for the most part Andy is doing AMAZING with ASW and we have been traveling all over the place. It is fun and excited as well as nerve racking and difficult...but our little family piles into the car and we head to wherever we need to go.
As far as "Sara the nurse" goes I am still working a bit here and there. Maybe one or two days a week when we are home at Ethel. It is a great position that has the flexibility that works for our family.
Fun: We as a family have been trying to get back to "normal" life a little bit. Entertaining and getting out into the world with friends as well. While in STL we went a few times. Gus and I met up with some of our friends B &T and went to lunch and our whole little family went to brunch with some friends, it was amazing to just sit and talk. At Ethel this past weekend we had some friends over and I made a tasty TASTY brunch. Our friends Lindsay and Kevin came over and we enjoyed a really nice late morning visit.
Banana Bread French Toast
Roasted Tomato, Smoked Mozz and Basil Frittata
Roasted Potatoes
Fresh Strawberries and Cream
Mimosas and Coffee
Health: Today was day one of this little challenge that I am doing. I have a couple ladies that are doing it with me as well. I am really excited about it. Although this morning was rough it felt good to get a good workout in. I have never been good and doing "challenges" because I am not competitive and I don't have a drive to fight myself...but this seems doable. I have set my month goals. I have set my weekly goals. I am hoping that when I see my friends in Florida there will be a noticeable difference.
I would like to write more but the little man will be up soon!
