NOT RIGHT
This post may upset some people and if it does then please step back and think about why you are upset.
As many of you know my husband Andy and I have fostered many pups in the past. We have a small company P4Pdog training that we use to help anyone with any variety of common dog concerns. We have offered help to people who needed a little guidance and re-direction in the training of their dogs and really any advice they may want.
All too often people get puppies and or dogs for the WRONG reasons! You know the people that say things like....
"My kids really wanted one."
"Puppies are so cute."
"I couldn't help myself."
"I want a little friend."
The truth is a dog is a HUGE obligation. It is a life, something that needs to be cared for, exercised, fed and nurtured...No I am not talking about putting it in cute clothes and talking to it like a baby but I am talking about responsibility. No one is perfect and there will always be mistakes made by even the best dog owners. When thinking about getting a dog step outside the things like how cute the dog is and how playful they are as puppies. Think that this little puppy or dog will be with you for the next 10-12 years every day all day. They need walks, food, attention, exercise and playtime not just to be stored in a crate.
Recently I have seen a slew of people all over the internet offering their dogs up for free stating things like....
"We didn't realize he would get so big."
"He has too much energy"
"It's too much to handle right now."
"We didn't realize how much work it would be."
"It just isn't working."
Those are all crap if you ask me....I read a book last summer by the man who started Stray Rescue of St. Louis..."Don't Dump the Dog." This book opened my eyes to how crazy people are. Multiple stories throughout the book highlight some of the reasons people no longer wanting their dogs, including "the dog used to be a cute puppy and now it is old." What the hell would you expect of a living creature, that it wouldn't age?
So why the rant right now??? Well it is frustrating. You wouldn't have a baby and when it wasn't sleeping and crying all the time and decide to give it away....No, you deal with it and move on. There are so many dogs out there that need homes and people that want to give a dog a "FOREVER" home not a "until it doesn't work home." Sadly the pups that people decide are "just too much" end up in a shelter... As it happens we are helping out little Mr Pacino right now because his owner, like so many others, bit off more than she could chew. He isn't a bad dog, she just doesn't have the time for a dog at all.
If you find that you are upset right now, please take a minute, breath and think that this is my point of view and my blog.
Thank you!!!

LOVE IT!! That is why we will never have a dog. No one wants to go out in the cold to walk the dog or let him/her go potty. Thanks for sharing.
