Late night Thoughts

So the new job is trucking away. Like many hospitals there are too many people trying to be the "big boss." Some days run super easy, chill almost...Others not so much. 19 shifts left, and I am still enjoying it.

A couple odd observations:

  • In 6 weeks of working here I have encountered only one MD who wants to communicate with the nurses. They aren't rude or distant. It is something that here the MD's and RN's don't really do. They rely solely on the documentation or order entry...WEIRD
  • The same complaints are all over...I wonder if there will ever be a time when everyone is happy? I doubt it and that is not me being cynical.
  • We get HOUR long breaks, yes, hour long breaks.
  • There is a gym at the hospital, and people use it! It is awesome. I run for 30 minutes, shower and the eat and there is no rush.
  • No matter how many nights, days or whatever shift I work I am the same nurse. I give it my all and try my best. I feel confident saying that I am consistent...and "awesome"
  • Kids as patients always make me laugh
Working nights has been tough. I really miss my husband, my love. It has always been such an important and super intimate thing for us to fall asleep with one another. Crawling in at 7am like a zombie just isn't the same.  Although, again, he has shown is amazing-ness...He bought me a sleep mask and ear plugs...Yes, I am sleeping during the day but it is silent and black!

We had a little camping adventure, stay tuned for some photos...I can't seem to find my camera cord...OOPS

A little Jelly gift from Shari!

I have met some really funny people and already will be super sad when I won't get to see them on a regular basis. Laughing is never in short supply when they are working with me!

Looking ahead a bit....
  • Headed to STL this weekend for a little time in the mid-west!
  • Next weekend Andy and I are head to BC for a little vacation away with one another! Taking the bikes and just enjoying a fun adventure
  • We get to travel to Seattle in a couple weeks, and I am so excited about it! Hopefully I get to see some old friends and meet some new ones.
  • The in-laws are coming out for a visit at the end of the contract and as always will be a fun little visit.
  • We decided to take some time off and head to Ethel for October!! Yes, I can't wait as well!
Life is cruising by and I am loving it. I try to remember every day not to wish for something to be over before it is supposed to. I am really looking forward to our little adventures while here in Portland.
As always, most importantly, Andy makes me so happy! Man I am a lucky lady.
